How to order a prescription
- Ring our prescription hotline 028 37539992. Alternatively dial the surgery number on 028 37531248 & select option 2.
- Sign up for the repeat dispensing scheme – this allows you to receive prescriptions for 6/12 months at one time (only some patients are suitable for this – ask at reception)
- Leave the right hand side of your prescription with our local pharmacists ( McKeevers) who will forward your request to us.
- Sign up with the practice and order your repeat prescriptions online through a secure website — enquire at reception (you can download the application form here too).
All repeat prescriptions will be ready for collection at the pharmacy of your choice 48 hours from when we receive your request.
All repeat prescriptions are computerised as this increases efficiency and reduces the chances of errors being made.
We ask you to give at least 2 working days notice prior to collection, unless in an emergency. We particularly request that you do not phone the surgery several hours after ordering the script to “see if it is ready” as takes up a lot of time for the administration staff and makes it harder for other patients to get through on the phone.
We do not “phone scripts through” to the chemist, and since 1 September 2011 our policy has been not to fax scripts (only in clinical emergencies) as this leads to mistakes and breaches patient confidentiality with possible significant consequences. All local chemists have routine collections of scripts from the surgery. If you want the chemist to collect your script for you please contact the chemist and ensure that you have given sufficient extra time when requesting the script.
Please also note that your Chemist is unable to dispense your medication without a prescription as they are legally bound to be in receipt of a prescription before supplying medication.
If you need to speak to a receptionist about your medication, between 12.00pm and 4.00pm is a suitable time to contact us.
